Jena School Fair

The Jena School Fair will take place on Saturday, 18.01.2025 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Volkshaus Jena, Carl-Zeiß-Platz 15.

Jena's school landscape is constantly changing. In recent years, several new schools have been founded, school types have changed and new school profiles have been developed. At the fair, visitors can find out about the various types of schools and the different concepts of Jena's schools and talk to teachers and school management.

All of Jena's state and independent elementary school, grammar schools, community and comprehensive schools will be represented at the fair. All three state vocational schools in the city, an independent vocational school and the Thuringia International School Weimar will also be present. The Jena State Regional Support Center and the East Thuringia State Education Authority will be on hand at a stand to provide advice on schooling for pupils with special needs.

The Jena school administration will be on hand to answer all school-related questions for which the local authority is responsible, such as school registration or school transportation. The Family Service of the Citizens' Service will provide information on after-school care fees and student grants (BAföG).

You will find an overview of the exhibiting schools from December under Downloads. An overview of the Jena school landscape with brief profiles of each school is available here.

Admission to the fair is free of charge.

On-site childcare is also offered free of charge by Jena childminders. Please note that you must provide your cell phone number when using this service.

It is possible to visit the fair with a baby carriage or buggy. Storage facilities will be available on the first floor in the childcare room.

Access to the Volkshaus is barrier-free - all entrance doors have no thresholds and are wide enough for wheelchair users. Wheelchair-accessible elevators guarantee easy movement between exhibitor levels. Barrier-free toilets and barrier-free lockers for the checkroom are available on the first floor.

The Volkshaus also has a checkroom area with lockers in the basement. This level can only be reached via a staircase.

Hot and cold drinks and snacks are available for sale.
